Moroccan Delegation Visits Devon as Part of Going Global Partnership

Devon & Cornwall Training Providers Network (DCTPN) was delighted to welcome seven visitors from Morocco for a week-long programme in Exeter and London, as part of the British Council-funded Going Global project being led on by DCTPN.

The visit built on the growing partnership between organisations in the UK and Morocco and followed a visit by UK project partners to Fes in July 2026.

During their week in the UK, the Moroccan delegation had the opportunity to explore approaches to education, apprenticeships and skills development, with a particular focus on sharing expertise, learning from each other and identifying opportunities for future collaboration.

The Exeter programme began with a warm welcome at Exeter College from Sharron Robbie, CEO of DCTPN; Mike Blakeley, Director of Apprenticeships at Exeter College; and Fiona Horrell, Director at Outsourcery and a project partner.

Delegates were given a behind-the-scenes look at Exeter College’s live TV studio, where students develop practical skills for careers in broadcast journalism. The visit provided a great example of how industry-standard facilities and hands-on learning are helping prepare students for the workplace.

The delegation then headed to the historic Reed Hall on the University of Exeter campus for lunch, before exploring the University’s engineering facilities.

Dan Hallam, Director of Apprenticeships, and Johnny Gurr, Impact and Partnership Development Officer (Engineering Degree Apprenticeships) from Exeter University welcomed the group and provided an overview of the University’s work, including its approach to apprenticeships and the development of higher-level technical skills.

The programme continued throughout the week, with delegates hosted by Exeter College, the University of Exeter and the Future Skills Centre, before travelling to London for the final part of their UK visit.

Sharron Robbie, CEO of the DCTPN said: “This visit represents another important step in strengthening the relationship between partners in Devon and Morocco and demonstrates the value of international collaboration in developing new approaches to technical education, skills and workforce development.”
