The UK Government has announced that apprenticeship training and assessment costs are now 100% funded for all eligible young people aged 16 to 24.
This means employers – whether levy-paying or non-levy-paying – will no longer face co-investment fees when taking on apprentices in this age group.
For businesses across Devon & Cornwall, this is a major opportunity to grow their workforce, attract new talent, and develop essential skills without the financial barriers that previously limited apprenticeship uptake.
Why This Matters for Employers
Apprenticeships are one of the most effective ways to build a skilled, motivated workforce. They allow employers to train individuals in real-world settings, shaping their development to meet specific business needs while supporting long-term retention and productivity.
With training and assessment costs now fully covered, employers can:
- Expand their teams with fresh talent at no extra cost
- Upskill existing staff through structured, accredited programmes
- Strengthen succession planning and future-proof their operations
This funding removes a key obstacle for smaller businesses and opens the door for more organisations to invest confidently in apprenticeships.
