Sam is the Head of Apprenticeships at Petroc and part of the college management team, working in a cross college role with responsibility for delivering the apprenticeship strategy, leading in growth & tenders, quality, digital systems and new initiatives.

Sam joined North Devon College as a Plumbing & Heating lecturer in 2000, spending a short time in the South-East working for an Independent Training Provider (ITP) before relocating back home to the South West in 2006.

In returning to North Devon, Sam recommenced lecturing and leading teams within the vocational skills and apprenticeship arena at Petroc.

Sam has led Petroc through the Apprenticeship reforms, is an advocate for lifelong learning & developing skills for employment. Sam is currently involved in an exciting project, a first in the FE sector, she is part of an AI development team that will be transformational in improving the student learning experience in FE.

In her spare time, Sam loves spending time with her family & dog, Luna, be it walking or running the South West Coast Path and eating out at some of Devon’s amazing restaurants. Sam enjoys watching rugby and spends most weekends taxiing her children to sporting events!
