National Apprenticeship Week 2026 (NAW26) has officially begun, shining a spotlight on the transformational impact apprenticeships have on individuals, employers, and communities across the country.
This year’s theme focuses on opportunity and progression – highlighting how apprenticeships can help people of all ages gain valuable skills while supporting businesses to grow, innovate, and strengthen their workforce.
Across Devon and Cornwall, apprenticeships play a vital role in the region’s economic development. Members of the Devon & Cornwall Training Providers Network (DCTPN) are collectively responsible for delivering more than 6,000 apprenticeship starts every year, supporting sectors ranging from engineering, construction, and digital technologies to health, business, and the creative industries.
These programmes offer individuals the chance to earn while they learn, build confidence, and gain industry‑recognised qualifications that lead to long-term, meaningful careers.

To celebrate the launch of NAW26, DCTPN has partnered with pbmedia to produce a brand‑new short video showcasing real apprentices from across the South West.
Filmed at The Focus Training Group, one of the region’s leading independent training providers, the video captures apprentices speaking openly about their experiences, why they chose the apprenticeship route, and the benefits they’ve gained – from hands‑on learning to gaining recognised qualifications and securing future job prospects.
Sharron Robbie MBE, CEO of DCTPN, provides an overview of the apprenticeship landscape and the diverse opportunities available. Sharron encourages viewers to explore the wide range of current vacancies on the Find an Apprenticeship website and highlights how apprenticeships continue to support both personal development and regional skills needs.

Whether you’re a school leaver exploring your next steps, an adult considering a career change, or an employer looking to strengthen your workforce, apprenticeships offer a valuable pathway to skills and success.
