The Devon & Cornwall Training Providers Network (DCTPN) held its inaugural AGM since becoming a registered charity during a packed meeting held at City College Plymouth’s PL1 Restaurant.
More than 40 providers travelled from across Devon and Cornwall to hear Network Chair, Gareth Kenward, deliver the Trustees’ Report on the charity’s activities.
Network members heard from Gareth about the work the charity is doing in order to achieve its purpose of operating across Devon and Cornwall and the wider South West peninsula for the public benefit in the advancement of education and training.
Although a new charity, with recent registration (March 2024), the DCTPN has already achieved some major milestones including the launch of a new website that provides impartial information and signposting to individuals and employers seeking advice on skills and training.

Gareth also highlighted the excellent work that is being done by DCTPN in schools across the area in terms of engaging with young people to raise awareness around the opportunities to start their careers via an apprenticeship.
The Board of Trustees were also introduced as several new Trustees have recently been appointed: Maria Woodger, Vice Chair; Jo Skeel, Mike Jones, Tracy Barnes, and newly-appointed Fiona Horrell and Dan Hallam.
Gareth commented: “Our charitable status is relatively new and therefore the timeframe in which we were required to highlight activity was a short four-week window. However, in that time we have certainly made a positive impact.
“I am looking forward to leading the Board as we move into the next stage of our existence, with a targeted and focused approach to supporting the communities in which we live and work, which will deliver greater results and maximum impact.”
